  • December 2006: Well, we made it through another year.  The annual Holiday Show in Fort Worth saw the premiere of a new industrial loop.  The old one was worn out, and with our abandoning of the bi-rail line did not match the remainder of the layout as easily any longer.  The non-standard track for accessing the industrial area was a liability as well, so Dave set out to build a new end loop with an elevated double-track horseshoe and a transition to a lower level with access to industrial areas and a local loop, where a short train can be run.  We have a few pictures of the new module pair in our photo album. - The annual Southern Plains N Scale Convention in Oklahoma City got hammered by snow on its first day (Thursday) this year, raising concerns for the whole train show on the weekend.  However, the sun worked hard on Friday through Sunday to plow roads and parking lots open, and the show ran without a hitch.  Attendance was down a little from previous years, but the big NTRAK layout was again a geat success.
  • October 2006: Our plans for another NTRAK layout in spring of 2007 are firming up. This time, World's Greatest Hobby on Tour will be the show sponsor, and we will have a larger layout than last time. Our events calendar has after a long break seen an overdue update, and this event is included among the new entries. - Spammers can register another success (or failure, depending on one's point of view). Our guestbook got bombarded by apparently automated postings to the tune of 30 per day, with that number increasing over time, in order to promote websites that have nothing to do with our hobby. We therefore had to close the guestbook, because keeping it clean has become nearly impossible.
  • June 2006: This year's shows have been a great success. The two weekends at the George Bush Presidential Library were an outstanding highlight for all of us. Next up: The N Scale Collector Society and the Denver Area N Scale Club are holding the National N Scale Convention in Denver in August. We are taking advantage of the opportunity of having this annual event relatively close to us and will take a few modules to Denver for the big NTRAK layout. Our layout archive got updated again, this time not only for our latest endeavors, but also for the earliest beginnings of our current layout in 1995-1996.
  • February 2006: We are planning to host a multi-club layout again, on March 11-12 at the Tarrant County Convention Center in Fort Worth. After a hiatus of a few years, we are returning on April 8-9 to the former Texas & Pacific Depot in Wills Point, Texas, on this year's occasion of the Bluebird Festival. And don't miss our visit on the last two weekends in May to the exhibition "Trains: Tracks of the Iron Horse" at the George Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas. The exhibition itself will run through the end of July 2006; with periodic changes to the exhibition it is well worth visiting more than once.
  • May 2005: We are planning to join a multi-club layout organized by SANTRAK in San Antonio again - their second annual train show will occur on the first full weekend in August.
  • May 2005: A moderate overhaul of the Tex-N web pages is going on. The frames will finally go away, and the old "Enter here!" index page will go, too. The "news" page (this one here!) is receiving a make-over with respect to its content.
  • February 2005: We have hosted a multi-club layout in Arlington at the GATS show. A layout diagram is posted on our layout page, and our photo album contains a collection of pictures from that event. A total of 5 clubs participated. A report on this show has also been published in the March/April issue of the NTRAK Newsletter.
